Touch Some Moss
Description:
This project invites visitors to engage through touch. Beneath the moss are hidden switches, LEDs, and sound that respond to the interaction, transforming the surface into a calm, sensory space that reflects the relationship between humans and nature.
About:
Touch Some Moss explores the relationship between humans and nature through touch, presence, and response. By treating moss as an ancient record keeper and living interface, the work invites reflection on how even gentle human interaction leaves traces, activating systems that quietly observe, remember, and respond.
Technical Description:
The project uses an Arduino, a 20×20 NeoPixel LED net, a speaker, and multiple physical switches or pressure-based inputs to create an interactive lighting system. Each switch is wired to a specific region of the LED matrix, and the code maps that input to a corresponding group of LEDs. When a switch is pressed, the Arduino triggers a programmed light animation only in that targeted part of the net.
